Archbald Hose
Company #1 was founded in 1891 and is one of the oldest volunteer fire
companies in Lackawanna County. Archbald, Pennsylvania, is one of the
largest boroughs in the state, covering an area of about 17 square miles. It
has approximately 6,200 residents. Archbald Borough is made up of many
sections, including Eynon, Frogtown, Nebraska, the No. 5 Hill, Winton,
Sturges, East Side and Riverside. In addition
to our many residential dwellings, we also have several industrial sites,
such as General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Flexible Foam, Laminations, and
Gentex. The Valley View School District's Intermediate, Middle, and High
Schools are located in Archbald. Our company
provides firefighting and rescue services to all of Archbald and surrounding
communities when requested. We average about 100 calls per year. We operate
out of one station, located at 380 Main Street, and run two apparatus, an
engine and a squad. Our approximately 35 active members are all volunteers.
All members are trained in PA Essentials of Firefighting. Many of our
members also have additional certifications, such as Engine Company Ops, Haz-Mat
Ops, BVR, BRP, Water Rescue, Rope/High Angle Rescue, EMT, Structural Burns,
